Fees & Charges

(As of April 15, 2023)

Please treat our Zygg e-bikes as you would your own e-bike.

  • Always lock the e-bike securely to an immovable object (bike rack, lamp post etc.), using all of the lock(s) provided by Zygg.

  • Never leave the e-bike overnight on the street, front porch or backyard or other unsecured area. You must have secure, indoor overnight parking.

  • Always remove the battery when you are leaving the e-bike locked

    • An ebike without the battery is less likely to be a target for thieves.

  • Ride safely, following Municipal and Provincial law - including wearing a helmet.

  • Do not perform stunts, ride roughly or otherwise stress the e-bike beyond normal usage.

  • Contact us immediately if you have any questions or concerns.

Commercial-Use on a Personal Subscription

Commercial use, such as food delivery, is not permitted on Personal plans. Violation of this Term will result in a $500 fine, plus full Liability for any damage or theft, plus any fees for kilometre overage, and may result in full suspension of your access to Zygg’s service.

Kilometre & Battery Recharging Limits

Personal subscriptions and Trial Rides have a limit of 600km and/or 30 recharging cycles per 30 day period. If you feel you will be going over this limit, please call our office to discuss. We can make arrangements to avoid overage fees.

  • Overage Fees: $0.20 / km and/or $2/battery cycle

Commercial subscriptions and Trial Rides do not have any restrictions on kilometres or battery recharging cycles at this time.

Liability for Damage and/or Theft

You are responsible for any damage to the Zygg ebike, beyond normal wear and tear. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Damage from an accident, negligence, vandalism, weather or other reasons

  • If you or a third party (such as the owner of a motor vehicle) has insurance coverage, you will be asked to pay Zygg the full amount and process the claim for reimbursement. Zygg will provide invoice and other necessary documents.

  • Maximum liability for a damaged Zygg ebike

    • $2,500 including HST

    • plus $500 per battery + HST

    • or the Zygg online retail purchase price + HST, whichever is smaller

Zygg Theft Protection is designed to reduce your risk in case of theft.

  • Standard Theft Protection (Model Qx, R, QT, T, A) means if your ebike is stolen,

    • you will be charged $1,000 including HST

    • plus $500 per battery + HST (if not removed)

    • provided you can show a photo of the ebike securely locked before the theft

    • within 24 hours of the incident, you must submit a Theft Report to Zygg, AND report the ebike stolen to the police

  • Standard Theft Protection (Model Y) means if your ebike is stolen,

    • you will be charged $1,500 including HST

    • plus $500 per battery + HST (if not removed)

    • provided you can show a photo of the ebike securely locked before the theft

    • within 24 hours of the incident, you must submit a Theft Report to Zygg, AND report the ebike stolen to the police

  • Theft Protection Plus (Model Qx, R, QT, T, A) means if your ebike is stolen,

    • you will be charged $350 including HST

    • plus $500 per battery + HST (if not removed)

    • provided you can show a photo of the ebike securely locked before the theft

    • within 24 hours of the incident, you must submit a Theft Report to Zygg, AND report the ebike stolen to the police

  • Theft Protection Plus (Model Y) means if your ebike is stolen,

    • you will be charged $500 including HST

    • plus $500 per battery + HST (if not removed)

    • provided you can show a photo of the ebike securely locked before the theft

    • within 24 hours of the incident, you must submit a Theft Report to Zygg, AND report the ebike stolen to the police

  • Void Theft Protection means if your ebike is stolen, and you do not have a photo of the ebike securely locked before the theft, AND all of the keys AND all of the batteries, AND submit a Theft Report to Zygg + the Police

    • you will be charged $2,500 including HST for the ebike

    • plus $500 per battery + HST

    • or the Zygg online retail purchase price + HST, whichever is smaller

  • Fraudulent claims may result in loss of any / all Theft Protection and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

What am I responsible for?

  1. PROPERLY LOCKING UP THE E-BIKE to an immovable object (bike stand, lamp post etc..) using the lock(s) provided by Zygg, at a minimum - that means BOTH the rear wheel frame lock (attached to the e-bike) and a chain that locks into the frame lock. Do NOT leave the e-bike locked overnight on the street , on a front porch or in a backyard or other unsecure area. You must have secure, indoor parking for your Zygg.

  2. REMOVING THE BATTERY when you leave your ebike (An ebike without the battery is less likely to be a target for thieves).

  3. TAKING A PICTURE showing the e-bike is properly locked, each time. (You will need to show this.)

  4. TREATING THE E-BIKE AS IF IT WERE YOUR OWN. Excessive wear-and-tear, damage, scratches, bent wheels or other components, lost components, etc.. are all indicators of usage that is not “normal” and will result in fees and/or fines as per the Price List

  5.   Checking the bike every time you ride for any visible issues or damage

  6. Reporting to Zygg within 24 hours if your ebike was stolen,  if any of the keys for your e bike’s lock or battery have been lost or stolen, or if you have been in an accident or crash.

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, CRASH OR OTHER ISSUE

  1. You must report it immediately 647.370.8880.  And stop riding the ebike. 

  2. Further damage that results from riding an ebike with a problem is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. 

  3. Take photos of any damage and retrieve any  parts which may have been broken or cut off and provide these to Zygg

  4. Get Name, phone number, plate number of any 3rd party involved. Take photo of driver’s license or other ID. Get their insurance info if a car, truck or motorcycle was involved.

  5. If the ebike was stolen, within 24 hours you must submit a Theft Report to Zygg AND report the ebike stolen to the police

What is normal Wear & Tear?

  • Most flat tires

  • Small scratches, dents etc..

  • Wear on components (brakes, gears, frame, seat, racks, motor etc..) from riding the e-bike on paved roads and paths

  • Electronic component issues related to regular riding and use, or internal system errors

What is “Non-Normal” Wear & Tear? 

  • Crash damage

  • Major scratches, breaks, bends etc..

  • Damage through Rider-added Accessories or heavy cargo

  • Clear stress on bike

  • Attempting to manipulate the system, sensors or technical components IN ANY WAY, including simulating a problem to affect an exchange for a fresh e-bike

  • Wear on components due to off-road or stunt riding, negligence or intentional damage

  • Water damage from immersion or excess rain exposure

  • Damage due to attempted theft

  • Damage to wheel from riding or  dragging a bike with a flat tire

  • Damage to rotor or caliper from riding when brake pads have worn out

  • Broken Brake Lever

  • Broken Pedals

  • Detached/broken front lights

  • Broken Front/Rear Fender

  • Damaged Crankarms

  • More than one broken spoke  (one  broken  spoke is normal wear and tear, more than that indicates you kept riding the bike with a broken spoke and caused further breakage)

Other Fees and Fines

  • Swapping from one model to another during your subscription

    • $50 + any additional subscription costs

    • $25 at Zygg shop + any additional subscription costs

  • Unable to process Credit or Debit Card payment

    • $25

    • may require security deposit of $100 to $500

  • Early cancellation of Subscription

    • If you want to cancel your subscription but you haven't yet met the minimum period of the subscription term you contracted, you'll need to pay an Early Termination Fee, or complete the subscription term (whichever is less): 

      • Annual Plan or Seasonal Plan: $100 plus back payment at the Monthly plan rate for the months that you paid at the discounted rate. 

      • Minimum 4 Week Delivery Plan: $100  

      • Minimum 12 Week Delivery Plan: $150  

      • Minimum 3 Month Delivery Plan:$100 plus back payment  of $30 for each month you paid at the discounted rate.

  • Refund Fee - Does not meet posted Eligibility requirements

    • $10

    • Incurred when a customer requests a refund/cancelation before receiving bike OR does not meet the eligibility requirements to be approved - please see all eligibility criteria before signing up

  • Pickup or delivery of a commercial subscription bike

    • $50

  • Missed Delivery Appointment

    • $25

  • Cancellation of order before receiving ebike (please confirm your eligibility before applying)

    • $10
